One should always prefer proteins that can be obtained from green leaves- green leafy vegetables are good for  health as they help in reducing cholesterol too. It keeps our HB good. For a pregnant woman, it is essential to keep the HB high. That helps in delivery.

Concentrate on large quantities of fruits and vegetables– The diet must contain more fruits and vegetables. Fruits are rich in fibers and also  improve  digestion. They also reduce the chances of constipation. Fruits are rich in vitamin c that has a high quantity of anti-oxidants. Fruits are also rich in folic acids that are good for pregnant ladies.

Eating dairy products that have low fat is good for health. A pregnant woman should try to eat low-fat dairy products. Low-fat dairy products reduce obesity and  lower the risk of diabetes. For some people high-fat dairy products are difficult to digest.

Keep eating something after a few hours interval– A patient with diabetes must not give a large gap between two meals. A pregnant woman with gestational diabetes must take small meals at regular intervals.

Avoid sugar as much as possible. Sugar is bad for diabetic patients. If required It is better to go for a sugar-free option.  Diabetic patients should keep in mind the harm eating sugar can cause.

For non-vegetarians, the doctors might add chicken and eggs to the diet plan. It is advisable to eat boiled chicken. It is healthy. One should be careful of eating fried chicken and  chicken with heavy gravies. That might cause obesity and can increase the levels of blood sugar.

Magnesium intake is of utmost importance. If a female has a magnesium deficiency, then the chances of getting gestational diabetes increase. So, doctors normally add magnesium to the diet of the patient having gestational diabetes.

The best source of magnesium is nuts. Nuts are very nutritious and healthy and contain a large amount of magnesium.

Legumes also contain magnesium. A patient can consume legumes in large quantities to increase the intake of magnesium.

Tofu is a rich source of protein, calcium, and magnesium.

Pumpkin seeds and chia seeds are also rich in calcium and magnesium.

One can also take flax seeds which are a rich source of Omega-3.

Banana is another source of magnesium. It gives energy and increases  stamina.

One can take supplements also. They can help cover all sorts of deficiencies in the body.
